NEWSLETTER(24th
July, 2008)
It is the Lord’s doing for bringing us to the end of second
session in Albesta Academy.
We thank God for granting us wisdom, understanding and
enablement to face the challenges of a growing school. We also
appreciate all our loving parents for their supports,
cooperation and prayers without which we cannot achieve any of
the programmes of the school. May the Lord reward you
abundantly.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES:
The school had presented the JSS 3 students for NECO and Lagos State
Junior
Secondary School examination. This
is the first external examination that the school took part in.
The students were fully prepared and have obtained 100%, all the
students passed with distinctions and lots of credits. The
result analysis is hereby attached. Each JSS 3 students NECO
statements of results is also included in their enveloped
package. The SSS 2 students have also been registered for 2008
WAEC GCE. The school did not compromise quality
teaching/learning processes through supervisory teaching and
inculcating reading culture in the students. The excellent
results of the promotion examination and NECO JSCE were clear
evidence. In order to maintain our standard, the SSS 1 & SSS 2
students whose weighted average score in Mathematics or English
is not up to 50% depending on whether he/she is Science,
Commercial or Arts were not promoted to the next classes. Few
JSS students whose overall average score is below 50% were not
also promoted.

The school’s first speech and prize giving day ceremony will
come up on Friday the 26th

will be ready by the resumption time.

HOSTEL MATERIALS
Parents are reminded to comply with the list of hostel items to
be brought to school by the students. Tinned milk or food
(Sardine, Corn beef, Indomie or spaghetti). Sweet, chocolates,
butter mints, chewing gum, cartons of biscuits, minerals or
fruit juices are not allowed.
Provision for half term: 2-450g tin powder
milk; 2 – 450g tin beverage; 2 – packets packaged cereals e.g.
Corn flakes, Golden morn, wheatbix; 2 packets of sugar or honey.
Unsweetened biscuits; cabin, cracker, digestive, short bread-
maximum of 2 dozens.
Check the hostel
requirement list attached in order to bring the materials.
TAGGING OF STUDENTS’
MATERIALS
The school is still battling with the problem of unidentified
and misplaced uniform, house wears, raincoats, church wears, bed
sheets/pillow cases etc. This is because the students failed to
stitch the printed identification tags on these materials. In
view of this, the school enjoins each student to embroider
three- lettered initials of their names (e.g. O.J.A.; TGB) under
their clothing materials. Parents should also help the students
to write name on each book to be purchased for them. No student
will be allowed into the hostel unless every material is
embroidered with his/her name initials.
REPLACEMENT OF STUDENTS’ MATERIALS
The materials of the students that have been used up or
misplaced such as uniforms, housewears, cardigans, sport wears,
shoes etc. should be replaced. They are available in the
school’s store and minimart for purchase at tokens. Parents
should make arrangement to purchase these items on resumption
for 1st term. (See also attached price list).
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Our students have been taken through the rudiments of music and
the next stage is the use of musical instruments. Each of them
will be trained in the use of musical instruments like piano,
organ, violin, recorder, trombone, clarinet, flute, trumpet and
viola. Parents are encouraged to buy any of the musical
instruments for their wards as assigned to them by their music
instructor.
RESUMPTION AND SCHOOL CALENDAR
The school resumes for the first term 2008/2009 session on Monday, 15th September, 2008. Resumption of
boarding students is on
Saturday, 13th September, 2008 when the
office is open and not on Sundays.
Students would not be
accepted into the hostels on Sundays. The first term
school calendar is attached. We implore the parents to observe
the time table to the letter in order to sustain academic
concentrations of the students. Visiting and open days should be
observed and PTA meeting is to be attended on the date
scheduled.
Thank you and God bless.
Mrs. M.E. Abe
